Litter Robot III Open Air (Reconditioned) - $360 + FS

Litter Robot has their reconditioned model back in stock for $360 (new units cost $450). I've had a monitor set up to check when they came back in stock, and it finally alerted me a half hour ago.

These units look awesome in most of the reviews I've seen. It's very pricy as far as litters go, but people have had their previous gen litter robot for 8+ years, and every part in the machine is user-replaceable after the 18 month warranty expires.

I bought this the last time they sold reconditioned models. It's a nice step up from the model 2 and it might as well been new. Looked it. Also they have really good customer service. I have bad allergies so having this saves me when it comes to my fiancé's cat.

For the same reason people buy Roombas. If I can have a robot scoop the litter every time a cat uses the litter, it means I don't have to. Vacuuming is fine to me, but I absolutely loath cleaning the litter box. Which means I do it less often than I should, and the cats have to deal with less than ideal litter until I clean it every few days. Maybe others feel the same way about vacuuming, thus the Roomba (and its similar price tag).

If this thing lasts exactly 3 years and completely dies, that's $10 per month. I'm pretty sure I'll get just as much enjoyment from Netflix as I will not doing a chore I hate. Hopefully this will last me much longer, though. So for me, it's worth it.

We have two cats and I am super thrifty. We have tried every possible solution to keep cat smells at bay and I do mean everything. We love our furbabies and had no plans to get rid of them, but we couldn't take another day of coming home to cat funk. We decided to break down and take a risk on this impossibly expensive solution to our problem. Of course, we waited for the reconditioned one to come into stock.

Once it arrived, it took a minute to get used to how it works but eventually, we caught on. We placed the robot in a secluded corner in our kitchen (I know.....but our cats are older and don't like going down to the basement anymore, so they rebelled by soiling our upstairs carpet). We addressed it by bringing regular litter pans upstairs and it worked okay but the stench was unbearable.

We felt that at that point, we had to try something drastic. We still kept the regular pan close by the robot because we weren't sure if they would take to it. I decided to place one of the cats inside the unit so that he would understand that this was a new litter box. He stayed a minute or two and jumped out. I would say that they only used the regular pan once then jumped into the robot. Finally, when it was time for the robot to cycle, it scared them but now they are intrigued and will sometimes stand and watch the litter robot cycle.

I have to say that the smell is gone....providing you make sure to remove the waste often. I love it. It was money well spent especially if you have multiple cats and the inevitable multiple smells. It has more than paid for itself. You can not go wrong with this robot.

I was just coming to post that these were back in stock. I ordered one this morning, along with the ramp attachment.

My cat is 19, so who knows how much longer he'll last? He slow, but steady. Tracking has become more of a concern the last couple of years. I now have two litter boxes out for him in our bedroom. I've got to scoop morning and night to keep the tracking under control, and it still infused in the carpet. Hopefully this will help. We'll see how the transition goes.

I do know that this will improve things while we travel. Been in Hawaii for the last week and a half, and a buddy is taking care of the boxes for me. Got an auto feeder and a water tower, so this should help with the other end of things.

I couldn't find any valid coupons or discount codes for the refurbished model.

I just added an alert for this today. Pricey yes, but if it works as expected then it's money well spent.

I love this toilet seat, makes my life so much easier and my house smell better, I am 69 years old and I was forgetting to empty the litter every day, so I purchased the last time they where on sale (refurbished) the first one I got didn't work properly the company replaced it with a brand new one -can't say enough good about it.

Ordered one, I hope it's as good as the reviews says it is. While it's 90 day satisfaction guarantee it's your expense for return shipping which I can't imagine being cheap.

have had a deal alert on these for forever, thanks for posting.

"why would you pay that much for a litter box", asked by people who I'm guessing don't have to regularly clean out multiple litter boxes multiple times a week and deal with flung litter.

any money I can spend to avoid my house getting smelly and having to clean up crap is money well spent. I know it's a lot, but the reviews seem to be good and the unit should last a while (our in-laws have had their v2 for years). spread out the cost, think of the convenience, and it's not too bad.

no one bats an eye paying for a dog cleaning service to clean up a yard, but an automated litter box...

They say return shipping is between $50 and $90 depending on how you ship it, or you can get a prepaid return shipping label from them and they'll deduct $60 from the refund. So not completely risk-free, but at least they'll take it back within 3 months if you don't like it.
