Filtering options problem

399 284 October 4, 2017 at 05:53 PM
When I sort by thread started and set filtering options on (By rating for 0+ thumbs), filtering options goes back to default when I click to the next page. Just started today, worked fine this morning.

This is using Chrome 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) and Windows 7 pro
also tried IE,
both using classic view
Hot Deals Forum sorted by thread started
Filter options : By Rating
works for page 1 but sorting option goes back to default when navigating to page 2

Hmm I am in chrome and did a test for "grill" HD forum and selected 0 rating... and when I went to the second page it held the filter setting for me.

I used to be able to set a filter to show only 2+ thumbs up ratings and it would stick until reset.

Today I noticed that loading the next screen now resets the filter to all ratings.

Please fix this by restoring previous stickiness of ratings until reset. Thanks.

Temporary solution is:
After setup filtering parameters, instead of clicking page 2 button on the page, add

&page=2

to the end of URL string.

If you want to go to the other page change 2 accordingly.

Using firefox and having the same issue on the 2nd page. Very annoying since I don't want to see all the thumbsdown posts. Can you guys please fix it?

Same problem as others, using Firefox... filter options are removed when I go to the 2nd page.

When I try to reset the filter options, I get sent back to the 1st page.

With this page https://slickdeals.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?daysprune=2&vote=1&f=9&sort=threadstarted&order=desc&r=1

then try going to page 2, filtering is turned off
I have the same problem as others, and I see the same effect with the link Bork provided.

It seems to be an issue with the query component in the URL.

For example, when I navigate to the following link, the filtering I have doesn't stick:
https://slickdeals.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9&sort=threadstarted&page=2

The problem, at least for me, is from this key-value pair:
Code:
&sort=threadstarted
This is supposed to be for the filter option of Sort By - Thread Start Date - Descending. If I remove that parameter/use a different Sort By option, depending on what sort option I use, the Next Button link is missing the sort by parameter or it has the new sort by parameter.

A quick fix for other users would be to change your Sort By Option to something like Hot or Title Descending or Last Post Date Descending.

Annoying to not be able to sort by thread start date, which is my preference, but doesn't seem like there's much that can be done until the devs fix this.

Hi all. After looking into this further, it seems the filter will only reset if you're filtering by the rating. A ticket was created for the devs to look into that issue. It seems there's also a separate problem (that also affects filtering searches in Classic view) that won't allow a filter for brands to stick at all. A ticket was also created for that issue. Unfortunately I can't give any ETA on a fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Looks like it's will take a while for forum admins to fix a problem. It's already 3 weeks gone since problem reported.

Few days ago I have posted here solution how you can navigate by adding &page=... to the end of URL. But it very inconvenient.

Finally I have found a minute today to implement a "permanent" fix. I have made script which is fixing problem. Since I don't have access to the forum internals, I cannot integrate my script into a forum for everyone. But there is a way for users to use this fix on their own computers.

You can download my script here [urlhasbeenblocked]. The simplest way to use my script is to add add-on to your browser Chrome [google.com] or Firefox [mozilla.org]. If you are using a different browser, you need to find this add-on in the library for your browser yourself. Sorry.

I'm not going to explain here how all this works. If you are interested to learn, go read this page [greasyfork.org]. For more information just google "user scripts".

If you have questions/problems/suggestions please ask here or on the script download page.
