I don't know why this has a negative deal score. Seems too good to be true. 4k display. PCIe SSD and 1 TB extra. 8th GEN PROCESSOR! which is quad core 8 threads unlike 7500u only dual core. only weak point of this laptop is the ports. type-c doesn't support video only data. no thunderbolt. and no usb 3.1 gen 2. but the next competitor is $1500 easy. Snatch one while you can and get that 8gen processor and 4k display. Worth it for that.

You can see the difference in processors here:

Most of these laptops come with the i7-7500u. Benchmarks even put this processor really close to the i7-7700hq. but this will have much better battery life. reviews say around 7-8 hrs.

Actually the 512GB SSD version (UHD screen as well) is $1019 after 15% military/student/teacher discount direct through Lenovo. Much better deal.

Odd, I just noticed the one from Lenovo has 7500u. Is this i7-8550U exclusive to Costco? Can the SSD be upgraded to 512GB aftermarket?

Yeah, which is why I got this one and asked about the ability to upgrade to the 512GB SSD. I'd love to remove the HDD to save weight and just have the SSD.

is the memory upgradable to 32g. i can't find any information in Lenovo website, because it only list i7-7500u, instead of i7-8550u. and from intel website it said this can support up to 32G.

Just got this laptop. Looks solid and excellent screen. Only gripe is the weight, which is almost same as MacBook pro (2015 model).
