Since OP didn't say: the offer is 60,000 points when you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

My advice is to sign up for both the Plus and Premier cards and meet the spending limits right before your three months is up (like January 2, 2018). That way, you earn 124,000 points and a Southwest Companion Pass, one of the best values in travel. And since you earned the Companion Pass in 2018, it's valid for all of 2018 and 2019!

Note: The Plus card has a $69 annual fee, and the Premier card has a $99 annual fee.

Chase officially unofficially gives you 115 days to meet the minimum spend.

Send a secure message once approved and they will give you the exact date.

Does anyone know what the Chase policy is for the miles bonuses on these? I've had both but not for a couple years. Fully aware of 5 in 24 rule, more concerned over bonus rules as I think I'm down to 2 or 3 card openss in the last 24 months.

Can't be a current card member and can't have received the bonus in the last 24 months.

Anyone who travels on southwest who doesn't sign up for this offer is an idiot. This is seriously the best deal/loophole ever and I have had for the last four years. It's more than $3,000 of free flights plus two for one travel for two whole years. And having the points gives you the flexibility to put flights on hold without having to worry about credit vouchers. Do it.

I'm planning on doing this.

How long do you guys realistically think this deal will stay active? I want to extend my 3 month window in 2018 and also don't have time to sign up while at work.

From my experience the two cycles that I have done it - I went from signing up to companion status in 30 days. I recommend what a previous poster had saying and delaying reaching the goal until January if that is possible so that you get for all of 2018 and 2019.

I only had the two 50k cards so had to spend $10k as soon as possible (I signed up in February). I just bought a few $2000 american express gift cards and used those later. There are some limitations on quantity and timing you'll need to look up.

I don't think you want to hit 2k before 2018 provided that you don't exceed your 3 months threshold. You want the 60k+60K to kick in after 2017 if you are going for companion pass. If you only applied for one card then go ahead and spend that 2k. You get the mile right away after the statement post.

Is this back only for a limited time? For various reasons, I won't be able to apply for about 2 more months.

I do agree with you however I am not getting both cards so it doesnt apply to me.

60K miles is good enough for me. Its like equivalent of 10-12 free flights when on sale.
