Hi guys,

My friend recently won this computer in a raffle and doesn't play any games. He's willing to sell it to me for $1000. Seems like a good deal, but thought I would double check here. I hadn't planned on upgrading my current computer until next year when the next Nvidia cards come out, but it might be worth it to jump in now at this price. If all else fails, I could probably sell the current card for ~$400 next year and upgrade?

Right now I have an old Dell XPS 8300
- i7-2600 CPU @3.40 GHz
- 16 GB RAM (I think 1600)
- AMD 7970

Link to computer he won HERE [amazon.com]

Thanks for the input!

If he is really your friend then you say you only got 900. I mean a grand is ok but no usb 3.1c and a 128gb ssd.

Yeah I'd try to get it for $800 or so but yeah probably a good deal at $1k depending on PSU, mbd, etc.

1st red flag They don't tell you the brand of GPU
2nd red flag They don't tell you the brand of PSU
3rd red flag They don't tell you the brand of Motherboard

This computer is probably worth $1,000, maybe $1,200. It's not a deal, and may be hard to get good upgrades.

Most recent reason why everyone should be armed at all times:
Santa Fe, TX school shooting. 10 killed 10 wounded.
This was a gun free zone. The shooter didn't care. Gun free zones only hurt honest citizens. If someone was armed there could've been 1 less death.

Yeah, I had my friend reach out to the company selling this computer to get better details on the specs.

1. GPU is Zotac (not sure which edition, seems like there are a couple)
2. PSU wasn't specified, just 500w
3. Motherboard is ASRock B250M-HDV, which doesn't look horrible, just wouldn't allow me to overclock the CPU, but since this CPU isn't a "K" then its not really a big deal.

Thanks for the input everyone! I passed on the deal

He just offered it to me for $700, I countered with $600 but he passed. He's going to try to sell it online. I decided I really don't NEED a new computer right now and I'm willing to wait for the 8th gen Intel processors and Nvidia volta cards. If he comes back and agrees at $600 then great, I'll take it.
