i have one of these, and its horrible. It doesnt like burned discs, so it wont play any mp4's, pictures, backups, etc. It also only plays about half of the dvd's we have. The others it just says to "insert disk". Tried using usb and it doesnt recognize any of the videos even though they are in the right format. For 40 its super hit or miss but well worth it when it works. Sucks having to pull over on a long trip just to figure out what is wrong

I would just use the tablet instead of this one.

i assume this is for kids on a long trip. but what would be the benefit of this over using an ipad/kindle kids etc. except playing physical dvd ?

I'm sorry, but these are as worthless as most GPS systems. They are obviously single-function and do that function terribly, and for a short time until they break. A $20-25 tablet will work better. Yes, you will need to rip/copy the media, but it's better than dealing with completely non-functioning players at some inevitable point.
