I have subscriptions to both this and Spotify.

I keep waiting for Spotify to come out with their high bit rate streaming, but it seems like they never will.

If you're just streaming to a Bluetooth speaker (or really using Bluetooth at all), this is probably not worth it. If you have a decent hi-fi system and are using a chrome cast audio or Apple airport express then this is very much worth it.

Spotify is a much better app for music discovery and navigation, but the sound quality on Tidal is tremendously better.

Also, the video features and music exclusives are pretty impressive. I'm glad there's some competition, and I hope they stay around.

Additionally, Tidal seems to be more stable when streaming through AirPlay or Chromecast. Spotify often loses volume control or becomes disassociated with your device. When this happens you have to restart the app.

I'm a Spotify user, but like the HiFi (and Master quality) versions that Tidal has. But $20/mo? No Thanks.

So far, I've survived off free Tidal trials (mostly 30 day, but occasional 90 day and 180 days free trials show up), only getting dinged once because I forgot to cancel. I now use a virtual CC service and use a "burner" card on Tidal for the trials, with just $1 limit, so if I forget, they can't charge me.

One issue I do have is streaming seems to be a problem at my house (I have fast internet), but Spotify and others like RadioTunes work perfectly all the time. Just Tidal. Yet another reason not to subscribe.

Are you creating a new account each time your trial ends? Since these trials seem to all say for new subscribers only.

My trial through Sprint(?) expired not that long ago and I miss using Tidal, but not don't miss is for $20 a month.

Unfortunately, yes, I have to create new accounts each time. I'm not invested in using Tidal,
as my main playlists, etc., are in Spotify, which I pay for their Premium service monthly.
