Trash shoes.
They advertise that they are made in the US but it's all done in the farking Dominican Republic then shipped to the US for finishing touches so they can advertise it as "American Made"
Overpriced crap nowadays.
They were great before they decided to cut costs.

90% of the shoe is made in the dominican republic then sent back to the US where they finish the last 10% then they label is as "Made in the USA"
Why support a company that abuses legal loopholes like this.

It just expired Sep 30.

The AMEX offer seems to happen at least once a year, and so does does this AE sale.

If you know you want some AE shoes, the AE Rediscover America sale happens the same time every year, so you can get an AE gift card when the AMEX offer is available, and be ready for the sale when it happens.

If the Fall Rediscover America sale doesn't have the shoe model you want, AE will randomly (but kind of predictably) have specific models on sale with the same discount (e.g., $150 off their $395 shoes) throughout the year. These tend to be for either their latest models, or most popular (like Park Ave., 5th Ave, Strand, etc.)

Got 2 AE Amex offers, used one for the clearance sale and bought $250 GC ready for this. Literally GC arrived yesterday : )

And a little search can get you 5% CB as well

Just a quick report back on the summer loafers/boat shoes this year, they used some cheap glue-on half-sole insoles in these. Both pairs of mine started to seperate within months, very annoying

I got the BB deal in the physical outlet, pretty sweet with extra coupon savings. Check your Discover Rewards GC redemption, they have BB @ $80 for $100

I think I have the Dalton boots or at least an earlier version of them. Very comfortable for walking around a city in.

Disappointing that the Strands aren't on sale this time, I wanted to pick up the Dainite soles for winter. Still some really good deals though, I love my Fifth Avenues

Quote :
In 2005, Allen Edmonds discontinued their Lewiston, Maine manufacturing plant and moved the handsewn production to their new, company owned factory in the Dominican Republic.[13] Currently, shoe uppers for the Allen Edmonds handsewn collection are cut and sewn in the Dominican Republic.[ The raw materials are sent there from the U.S., where the uppers are sewn together, then shipped to the factory in Port Washington, Wisconsin to complete their construction, thus allowing them to be labeled "Made in the USA." Alternatively, styles from the "ae by Allen Edmonds" collection are produced entirely in and sold as Made in the Dominican Republic. In addition to their handsewn collection, Allen Edmonds also utilizes the Dominican Republic factory to cut and sew the uppers of their Goodyear welted collection of shoes. Similarly to the "American Made" handsewns, these welted uppers are shipped to the factory in Wisconsin, where the remainder of the lasting, welting, and soling are completed.

Meh, the legal loophole-part isn't such an offense, on its own, but add to it the "Rediscover America Sale" and, I agree, they've surpassed reasonable levels of BS.

Do they ever have black Friday sales?
