Is there any real benefit to having a router this fast if my internet is only 5mbps or would I just be better off with something like Google home mesh to keep the signal strength up?

11/2016 I got this for $269 from Best Buy. I doubt that anyone would pay $399 for this. When my old one gave up the ghost, I decided to purchase one that I would not need to replace for many years since I had the previous one for such a long time. As routers go, it seems to work as intended and there isn't anywhere in the house or immediate backyard where I do not have service. I'd guess it is fast. I haven't had any real ability to test the upper limits of its speed. However, if I had to do it all over again and/or if I had done more research, I could have probably had my needs met at half of the cost of this. This would probably be a great idea for a gamer. For an average Joe who streams a few movies and surfs the web, many of the features are wasted. #overkill!
