Costco in-store Arcan XL3000 Low Profile 3 Ton All Steel Jack $94.99 (This is not the "Hybrid" [costco.com] Steel/Aluminum that Costco has on-line for about the same price.)

I purchased the Arcan XL3000 Steel version offered in-store over the "Hybrid" [costco.com] that is on-line because of the lower profile and higher lift capacity: from 3" to 19.72" Lift. It does weigh more but I'm willing to trade the all steel, low-profile and max lift for the extra 20#.

IMHO this is probably a better deal than the 3-ton LP HF unit [harborfreight.com] that goes on sale for around $80 because of the Costco lifetime return policy vs. crappy 90 days for HF.

You should also check Northern Tool and Harbor Freight for 3-ton low profile jacks, some cheaper with less lift and some a bit more expensive but with much more lift range.

For a steel jack, the price is slightly high though its quality should be better than HF one.
I am thinking this might be item for Costco Black Friday, or on the coupon book, expect to
see $20-25 off soon.

Costco lifetime return policy makes this a no brainer over HF.

Should I trust a car jack made out of metal you can cut with a steak knife?

Again, I'm not arguing on the merits of the HF units... as long as you get a good one you're set. The 90 day warranty and the lack of replacement parts are the concerns.

These Arcan's are very comparable in quality/specs and in fact some have reported they're virtually identical. The $15 dollar difference between the Arcan XL3000 and the steel HF 3 ton LP buys you Costco's lifetime return policy.

BTW hoping that they do go on sale at Costco so that l can do a return/rebuy.

No, and that's why Jack stands exist

Jack stands go a long way!! The aluminum 3 ton jack weighs 56lbs vs the steel jack 74-99 lbs depends on the make

Have you ever flown in an airplain? It's almost entirely made of aluminum.

Been using this for 8+ years, it doesn't bleed down, and has no problems lifting a full size 4x4 truck. Yes it is heavy, and doesn't fit under some low cars, but I'll probably jump on this deal to have one in inventory

I don't believe these are sold in all locations. Might want to give your local store a call if you are making a special trip.
