That is a good price. You may start to see these drop in price since the newer and more efficient HW70x models are out.

I ran this canister on my 60 for awhile. I use it every so often to just vacuum out my sump or polish my water. The UV light never worked Frown I tried replacing the bulb. I love the trays allow for all kinds of media and this thing does a great job at filtering. When priming the unit make sure there is water in the canister or you'll be "pumping" for awhile to get the syphon going.

I used this for about 4 years and it never let me down. Im pretty sure if I plugged it back in it would work right now too.

I have had this init for about 5 years now and it's ran well. Quiet and takes about an hour to turn my gunky water from vacuuming the rocks to clear in my 45 gallon.

edit: I have the 264gph unit. this one is 525. so it's made for larger tanks and I remember getting mine for around 75 bucks.

if you fill the canister with water 1st(after cleaning or changing media), priming is no big deal. I agree with you, priming an empty filter is a pain in the neck. My SunSun (also sold under Aquatop brand) has worked well for the year that ive owned it. Good rule of thumb is if it says 500gph its about half that in real life.

Great little filter. Super cheap compared to an Eheim. I have been using it for 4 yrs and its still going strong. Never had any problems priming it.

Was good for about 2 years for me until the plastic started cracking and leaking water. It did its job well though in my 40 gallon turtle tank. Wish it lasted longer

I've used this canister filter for several years. I have it running alongside a Fluval 206 canister. The flow rate is really slow in comparison, but it gets the job done. The UV sterilizer works great and the replacement bulbs are inexpensive. I've had one of these canister filters die on me in the past year (pump stopped working) - I recently ordered a replacement unit on eBay.
