Sinemia 2 IMAX movies/month at $9.49/month when paying annually

The deal that SandNerd mentioned last month is now back and a little better.

Sinemia - If you pay annually is $9.49/month for 2 movies a month. Looks like both movies can be IMAX with the new terms.

There is even a plan for 2 for $18.49. In this plan you can take whoever you want for the second ticket (both tickets need to be used together).

More movie theaters also seem to be included than moviepass.

They keep changing their offering every few days.

The current promotion is $9.99/month for 2 movies (including IMAX) with no commitment.

They also have a new option in the Sinemia for 2 plan. See one movie per month together (ie for 2 people) for $14.99 (again including IMAX).

Not bad if you do not want to OD on popcorn like I'm doing on moviepass. Once I catch up on all the current movies I may switch over.

I hope this becomes the new norm. Movies have been overpriced for a long time now and if these subscription services want to mine my data to offset the cost of a $9.99 a month fee then I will happily let them on my back-up phone that I rarely use hahahaha

Except movies are not overpriced. Theaters make their profits by selling concessions, not tickets. As consumers I'm happy we'll be paying less, but the studios will still get their money. Some of us will just subsidize others of us by not going every month but still paying the monthly fee, just like product rebates, really.

just because concessions are *even more* overpriced and thus carry a larger profit margin does not mean movies are not overpriced.

other than the last line, how can this possibly be a better deal than moviepass?

It looks like you are limited to 1 imax movie per month. That's in their FAQ.

The ability to book ticket in advance and to see movie in 3D and Imax makes me want to switch. I hate going to theater 30 minutes before show time just to find out that only front row seats are available. Also I believe you can use it and get second ticket for free if there is BOGO offered by Fandango or Atom ticket.

Should still work if that theater accepts MasterCard

Sign up two weeks back, try to get advance ticket for my second imax today, was not able to, says you can only watch one premium format once every 30 days. Baits and switch, will be cancelling.

So you were able to see at least 1 movie in IMAX right? TBH, that still makes this a decent deal. As long as I see 1 IMAX movie a month, I'm still saving $12-20 as the theaters around me charge $22.50-$30 for IMAX or IMAX 3D. And then I can go see a regular movie which typically runs $15, so where I would usually spend $35-40, now I only have to pay $10. Definitely a good deal.

Hopefully they make their ads more clear in the future though, because that is a bit deceitful.
