Hi Slickdeals!

Long time slickdealer but only my second deal post! so hopefully I'm not missing any important information since it is 0400 hours
I did do a search but only saw the previous deal that required you to keep a monthly line to retain the monthly bill credits where as this can be purchased out right for $96!

Been looking for a cheap Smartwatch deal and saw T-Mobile has the ZTE Quartz on sale for $4/month or $96 one time payment, not as cheap as the last deal but this deal should not require you to have a data line on the device:
https://www.t-mobile.com/internet...zte-quartz

I'm not 100% certain but my guess is if you buy it out-right for $96, you can cancel any required service line they impose on you since there are no longer service contracts to sign. If you stick with the $4/month, if you cancel the line you would have to pay what you owe left of the $96 sale price.
I believe this beats any other Smartwatch at the price for a brand new piece. No used smartwatches with dying batteries, etc to worry about!

Watching some reviews, it's a great smartwatch for the price, has one of the largest batteries @ 500 mAh which reviewers say is good for at least a day and a half and no "flat tire" at the bottom of the circlular display but the watch is really big and has a cheap band, luckily that is easily replaceable. Also, very nice that it has GPS built in.

No NFC or heart rate monitor though.

This device has a built in SIM card and you can't replace it. They may want you to buy the $25 SIM Kit but this has no purpose for this device.

No LTE though, T-Mobile is refarming HSPA. Android Wear is very dated compared to Watch OS.
is this good or bad?

Depends on whether you intend to use this as a standalone watch or have a data plan. Most markets are moving toward all LTE, so this would basically only run on 2G data. Don't buy it for network usage.

Hi gustopherdanso, no LTE is only bad if you plan on using the Quartz as a stand alone mobile device. I personally plan on just having it connected to my phone via bluetooth, which I honestly think most people do, since not all smartwatches have built in data.
Hope this helps!

I don't know specifics on the differences between watchos and android wear 2.0, but I'm not buying an iPhone, so I wouldn't be looking at an apple watch anyway.

It's always appeared higher in cost, the wearable plan is actually $20 month. on your bill page it is $20 for the service plan. You get special discounts, $10 Bill credit for also having a cellphone on the same account and an additional $5 for auto pay setup. 20- 10- 5 = $5 per month if you agreed to all terms. The OP is saying you can buy FRP $96 for the watch alone using Bluetooth no plan, or if you have service with T Mobile, add it to your bill as an EIP for $4 and get the wearable plan for $5 assuming you commit to all the terms of T Mobile' s discounts
