What's your basis? The Peavey electric guitar for one is selling for $499 at every other retailer that comes up on Google search and it was on sale as the Stupid Deal for $180 earlier this morning:

That's not true. All of the music retailers these days have a tiny margin and I wouldn't be surprised if they broke even or even took a loss on some of the SDOTD deals.

But an electric guitar also needs an amp. I guess you could buy an external headphone amp to use with it. Shame that they didn't build one into this model if that's how most people are going to be using it...

It just seems like a "travel electric guitar" is far less functional than a travel acoustic guitar is what I meant.

Buy a guitar to USB cable and hook it up to your laptop. You can get one with Rocksmith.
