Unless that gift horse ruins your drum unit... I'm not saying this unit will damage your drum but I have seen reviews of these remanu causing the drum units to fail. These probably work great but keep in mind that the toner density and material can have an effect other components in the printer.

aftermarket drum and toner is not same as the OEM, but the OEM sometimes cost more than the printer. if you can get this deal and an aftermarket drum you may be able to get +2k prints out of both.

I like Brother printer for they are forgiving with OEM catridge, unlike HP, etc.

I did. It was enough for a little north of 1900 pages before printouts started to fade.

You are correct. I maintain about 15 laser printers around my workplace and I use aftermarket toners in each whenever possible. I have noticed that the drums do not seem to last as long with these aftermarket toners, but the cost savings usually make up for it. Even if they do take out a drum unit here and there, my cost savings from using the remanufactured would allow me a new OEM drum unit every 2-4 toners which would still put me ahead on average.

The Brother printers that use these cartridges have not been made for quite a while, so the cartridges will eventually become hard to find and more expensive. In for one.
