Is this worth it when some regular 1080 models are under $500?

Yeah not really sure, with the 1070 Ti dropping in a few weeks. And maybe Vega Custom cards( granted I doubt those are going to move the needle at all)

I'm really kind of disgusted with the state of PC gaming this year, atleast from the GPU side.

40% more money for 10%-30% increase in performance. Hitting that rate of diminishing returns.

Consider that 30% is what makes the difference between enjoying 4k and barely squeaking by

True, but even then it's just getting 40-80fps. I'd just wait until next year for a better boost in 4k. Unless if you can sell it off to upgrade then that works perfectly fine too.

It's a good price for right now (at least we are seeing sales for 1080 ti) but everything at the moment seems like a premium since we are in a weird time for pc building (mining, coffee lake release, lackluster competition from Vega). Price has only been "decent" for 1060s and under. I am starting feel skeptical about how good the sales will be this year for BF and CM.

It's a pretty good deal. It's a detuned ftw3 card.

Yeah wait for Volta for real 4K. 1080 Ti is the first to run 4K comfortably, but Volta will make 4K mainstream. I'll hang on to my 1080 a bit longer.

Debatable even with the 1080TI... Some games like the new Tomb Raider needs something more powerful than a single 1080TI due to frame rate drops that makes it go below 35 FPS.

Volta I would think would be the first true 4K single GPU solution.

Considering the 1080ti is about 30% better than the 2nd best gaming graphics card you can buy... I think it is the easy choice. From the past few gens it looks as if the 1080ti will match the 1180 when it is finally released... Not to mention Nvidia has been giving pascal some upgrades in drivers... It absolutely crushes any game you can throw at it.

1440P at super high FPS is amazing.

I find the Ti variants of the 80 variants of these cards (780 ti, 980 ti, etc.) diminish in value too quickly to be worth their hefty price. >.< but i so want it... Frown

I recently bought a Gigabyte G1 gtx 1070. Would it be worth it to return the 1070 and pick this one up? I'm fairly new to pc building/upgrading so I don't really know how much of a difference the 1080ti would make.
