The epson 5040ub is back on sale (matching last month's one-day sale when I bought, the lowest price it's ever sold for previously). This sale appears to be good through 10/21 and it's at all authorized retailers.
5040ube is $2799 with 200 GC

Some offer store GC of $200, some offer Visa/prepaid $200 GC instead.
Some will have local sales tax while others will not.
Several include a free cheap projector mount.

$200 BBY GC

$200 Crutchfield GC. Possible portal cashback and rewards

$200 Visa Gift card. No tax most states. Free mount

This very highly-rated projector in on sale for $2500 (from $2800) and especially with $200 gift card from some retailers so final price is $2300. I prefer Crutchfield since they're authorized dealer with 60 days money back guaranteed and no tax for all states except NJ - not to mention experienced excellent customer services first hand myself.

The refurbished 5030UBe is still available for $1289. Much better value proposition, IMHO.

Yup I only posted that deal lol. 5040UB ain't worth IMHO yet. Hopefully we will see true/native 4K sub 2k soon from Epson. Optoma is almost there. Pixel density is good but still not true 4K.

Agree. Doesn't seem like a reliable merchant. And not registered with BBB.

There's no higher spec'd projector currently for a lower price from any other manufacturer.... Much less with 2yr next day replacement warranty.

Consider buying this one until the 4k units come down in price.

The 2150 is not comparable to the 5040. It's like comparing a Ford focus to a Lincoln MKZ. The options are different and the vehicle is larger.

The 2150 is a decent entry level option.

I'd wait till real 4k comes down in price but "To Each His Own".

But at that point, why not wait until 8k comes down in price! Smilie

There's always something around the corner with tech. I upgraded primarily for 1080p content. (Also to access higher bitrate streams from Amazon/Netflix "4k" streams)
