While we've had a rivalry going in the past that seemed a bit like Iowa vs Iowa State, Notre Dame vs Stanford, UCLA vs USC or U of M vs MSU, Left Twix vs Right Twix etc. We've always had one thing in common - the love of deals.

We hope that you come in and look around to see what we have to offer. Then pull up a chair and settle in with us, share deals, discuss the merits of them, visit our other forums, use our SD APPS and let us help make this your new home.

We have an Articles section in the bottom of the homepage and in there you can find a few SD 101 write ups.

https://slickdeals.net/article/news/slickdeals-101-the-undiscovered-secret-forums-stats-and-more/

https://slickdeals.net/article/news/beginners-guide-how-to-share-a-deal-on-slickdeals/

https://slickdeals.net/article/news/12-features-of-slickdeals-you-really-should-be-using-right-now/

We'd love for you to help grow the discussions in our Finance forum, find B&M deals in our Drugstore & Grocery forum, laugh and make friends in the Lounge.

We also have our Site Questions, Issues or Suggestions forum here, in case you have some ideas to share or run into something glitching.

Community interaction is what we had in common and set us apart from most other deal sites.

We know it's been rocky for you while trying to figure out where to settle in, we offer our hospitality to those of you who'd like to join us.

Wow. I didn't even realize FW had shut down.

Hope all the FW members find a home here.

FatWallet officially shut down on 10/09/2017. They made the official announcement only a couple weeks before that.

Their final message reads:
Quote :
It's never easy to say goodbye.

Thank you for visiting FatWallet. With sadness, we must inform you that we have closed our operations, and our website is no longer active. For over 17 years, it has been our absolute pleasure to help millions of deal hunters like you save money, and we're grateful for your business. While the FatWallet site won't be around anymore, we'll still be helping you find discounts and earn cash back on things you buy every day at our sister site, urlhasbeenblocked.com. It's free to join, so check it out — we know you'll love it. Thanks again for your support. We wish you all the best.
I have fond memories of FatWallet, and there was a time when I *gasp* liked it more than Slickdeals. 14 years ago, I joined SD on 09/13/2003, and several hours later, I joined FW on 09/14/2003. (I actually had an SD account that is years older than that, but I can no longer remember it.) Both FW and SD have been a major part of my life. I was actually much more active on FW until I fully jumped ship to SD in 2009. At one point, I was to be a FatWallet staff member before I decided to decline. It seems crazy to me that FatWallet has shut down, as I have been on that site since I was a teenager!

Yep, I started at FW and contributed there for a while. I even still have a FatWallet t-shirt somewhere in the back of my closet. Smilie Can't even remember why they sent it now...

But after using FW for a while I originally came to SD thru the price tracker and eventually migrated over to the forums and liked it better than FW.

It IS hard to believe they shut down. Not sure what the story is there, but hopefully some of their workers and contributors can find a home here. I'm sure they have some crack deal meisters over there who could do some heavy hitting for SD. But that's just speculation.

Always sad to see a long-time useful site go down.

haha, between my significant other and I, we have had maybe 25 FatWallet t-shirts that we wear for the gym or if we're gonna get dirty.

Without diving into their history too much: In 2011, FatWallet founder Tim Storm sold the company to E*bates. In 2014, urlhasbeenblocked bought E*bates, including FatWallet. There has been issues since the initial sale by Storm, and it was made worse after urlhasbeenblocked purchased E*bates.

The people in their Finance forum are true "meisters" of their craft, and I'd be happy to see some of them migrate over to Slickdeals.

FW had the absolute best mobile website ever. When they changed it I left. Despite numerous complaints from me and others about the change the would not budge on the horrible decision. They refused to listen to us and they drove themselves out of business. Companies need to listen to the consumer. I hope Slick Deals reads this thread and they keep the basic html site format. The only reason I originally came to slick deals was because of the mobile site format.

Please add those from REFUND CENTS -- Michele Easter has decided to completely close the website before the end of November... 38 plus years -- will become a memory. Frown (She had a magazine at one point as well).

Well...I cant even begin to express my discouragement at FW shutting down. While I have not been a very active member the last few years (primarily since I am extremely busy due to work) I joined Fatwallet at the very beginning and definitely felt a brand loyalty. I'm looking forward to learning more about Slickdeals and seeing if this site can quench my deal needs!

Even though I had been a primary FW visitor and contributor but SD was never forgotten during deal hunting seasons. Glad to see that SD offers a similar platform for people to share the deal. Have a great deal season.

I miss FW and I'm trying to learn my way around here. But it's a little overwhelming. I don't know where to go first! I suppose I'll learn. And I've set a few deal alerts.

I guess change is hard sometimes - at least it is for me.

so this is naughty, but here goes. I signed up for both sites on the same day FW first then here. I always preferred FW and posted one deal there. whenever I shared any of the deals or freebies I always referred people to fatwallet. Here's the naughty bit, I knew by checking both sites daily I could almost always find a post here that wasn't there, I loved that. I always kept SD on the back burner, I loved the "list" featured frontpage deals, from back then I could scroll through, hook up the freebie forum, take a quick peek for the extra deal I always found clicked it it and boogied off. I liked Faywallet for their cash back feature.every now and then my fingers memory type,"Fatwallet.com" into the google bar.

wasn't it FW that moved their business across state lines ,simply for tax purposes?
