How much of an improvement would this be over a Genius mic on a stick I still have from the '90s?

How is it professional when it's less than 10 bucks?

This is crap. Don't fall for the pictures. It's cheap hollow plastic. The only thing I use is the mic stand and that's not saying much because the stand is also cheap to plastic. Also be aware that this is made for the phone only. The connector is not mono. I still couldn't get it to work when I used a mono xlr cable. It's not worth my time opening it either. Save your 10$

Agreed; save your Time, Money AND expectations.. Decent quality condenser Mics (USB / XLR) often sell for $40, are much more likely to suit ANY Mic-related needs / uses.

Yep, absolutely not professional. But compared to a decade ago, there are some really good inexpensive condenser mics on the market (but this isn't one of them)

$30 usb Samson mic would be your best bet, I've had no luck with these no name cheap mics.

A professional condenser studio mic that runs on 1.5V via a cheesy 3.5mm plug??

What happen if you feed it 48V phantom power?? Would it sings itself and we see Elvis??
