Hi Bartecky,

No, unless you imho have a cheap coax system which died and you need to replace it with another cheap system.

If you are installing new wiring go cat5e/cat6 and get an IP PoE system.

Also note, it does not have an HDD. Recently for only $150 more ( $300 ) there was a nice LaView PoE system w/o HDD on sale. I would expect to see some nice LaView deals from newegg around Black Friday time period.

FYI - If you've already got coax wiring up for security cameras, I would recommend considering the following instead of this Annke system.

Compare: $150 + 2TB HDD $60 = $210 Annke 4x 1080p cameras vs $400 night owl w/8x 5MP cameras - for only $190 you get 4 more cameras and a better system.

Hi Crazyal,

This would work inside as well as outside, though the brand Annke has a rather poor reputation in terms of the quality of their products.

Please look at
https://slickdeals.net/f/10604080-laview-nvr-poe-ip-8-channel-security-surveillance-system-300-after-30-rebate-free-s-h

I know the deals over, that would have made a very nice quality indoor system.

Keep an eye out for something like that around black friday.

If you are looking for individual cameras, this deal is still going
https://www.laviewsecurity.com/pr...a-2pk.html

Note - update: Their is one product from the Annke Brand which actually appears to be a very good product, it is the Annke Cube 1080p camera - it is a Hikvision OEM camera and you can update the firmware ( indoor rated camera )
https://www.annkesecurity.com/wir...audio.html

SD thread on it, please see the post #19 by Neilyboy for a link on updating the firmware

Thanks for the info. My friend gave me his old bnc cables system. I'm not sure if I'd be better off buying an IP system or saving the money and just run the cable for the older system.

Looks like not a bad deal for old but good analogy system. Though for twice this price (Including internal hard drive) and you can have 4x 3MP cameras that appear to be the norm for these days on an 8 channel DVR as Costco has one right now. Nevertheless this should do the job fine for a low budget, if you have a hard drive to pop it in.

Hi Philldo,

Depends on how much work it is to cable up your setup, and how tight your budget is.

Take a look at the ID distance calculations on the lorex 4k deal page and determine if this or that old system will meet your needs.
https://slickdeals.net/f/10409612-lorex-dahua-oem-6x-4k-8mp-security-camera-system-w-8-port-poe-ip-nvr-2tb-hdd-kit-at-costco-b-m-ymmv-for-799-99

Notice that 720p cameras have to be placed rather close to the subject to get a good ID image. 1080p cameras do give you better results, still not as good as we'd be lead to believe from hollywood.

If you can afford it I would recommend getting a better system.

How does this system compare with the deal?

ZOSI 4CH FULL 1080P Video Security Camera System, 4 White Weatherproof 1920TVL 2.0MP Cameras,4 Channel 1080P HD-TVI DVR No Hard Disk (100ft Night Vision, Smartphone& PC Easy Remote Access) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MP56...3zbCJJ73B0

Its HD-TVI so it's useful for us with BNC cables already run. Has 4 stars and same spec, but $40 cheaper.

Hi MBaran,

This is the first I have heard of this brand. The NVR has only 4 ports.

Fakespot give the amazon page with this product a "B" grade from 179 reviews, so that looks decent.

Take a look at the ID distance table, and look at 1080p cameras and find something close to the 75 degree FOV, and that should give you a good idea of what the possible for a theoretical ID distance. ( according to the amazon page the camera has a 75 degree FOV.. which I take it to be the horizontal as they state "wide" )

Do remember that you'll want to fully bench test this kit, as some of the cheaper cameras have issues with color representation.
