Several Kidde Smoke Alarms are on sale from Walmart.

I was able to find out $5 around my area and other major cities, although Brickseek says $1 deals are also available (YMMV).

The Amazon review of the combo alarm is good but the smoke alarms are pretty mediocre though ><

Wasted an hour of my life going to a Walmart that showed they had 11 of the monoxide alarms in stock. Of course this being Walmart none of the employees could find them in the back room nor have any idea where they might have gone.

Awww...sorry for your wasted times.

Have you checked both Brickseek and Walmart App? When I find deal I check them both then make a move. When I see Brickseek inventory only, it's no-go for me.

I guess you can start a fire in a walmart and you hear 'Fire Fire Fire' next to Banana. That's where Kidde smoke dectors are..

check reviews, seems like the only good reviews are people that just bought it. They all seem to go bad after a few months or years (well before the 10 years) and then you have to throw it out as they are not serviceable. I'll stick to ones with regular batteries.

Does anyone know the difference between a bedroom & living room alarm? All I can see from reading both is that the living one has a red flashing LED.

What does this thing chimp at end of life? I've done my share of 9v replacements in the evening/nights so I could go back to sleep. What do you do when this 'permanent battery' one fails?

personally I would go for a photoelectric plus ionization type smoke alarm
the two types of sensors are each more sensitive to different types of fires

You have no idea how annoying smoke alarm/carbon monoxide alarms have been to me. Always random ringing and won't turn off until I bang the batteries out.. Nest has been so easy to use.
