If you are looking for a new higher speed cable modem for faster downloads, and/or high-speed online gaming this Netgear CM600 model is a winner. I set this one up at my sister's house and she and her kids say it has significantly improved their internet performance. She paid $129 for this model so $99 now is a great deal. Plus they no longer have to pay that $12 monthly modem rental fee.

I always question 'new' from ebay. Sure its a $15 savings, but at least you know it's legit through Amazon. Just my two cents from some bad purchases I've made in the past. It's really just a luck of the draw.

Either way, this is a good value for a modem.

Speed probably "improved" because they were using a DOCSIS 2.0 modem while also having received a free tier bump in the last few years. Old modem was the bottleneck.

This is way too much money for a modem.

For those that have a bundled phone service, this does not have a phone jack.

Now it's $100 - $10 = $90 (plus tax for most).

https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-do...ords=Cm600

This is indeed one of the nicer modems without spending $130-150 for Docsis 3.1.

The 32x8 D3.0 modems use the questionable Puma chipset, and many ISPs don't currently go above 24x4 at the moment. Plus, you likely only have a 1 Gbps WAN port on your router, so this modem is plenty.

The just finalized standard for full duplex 10 Gbps down AND 10 Gbps up DOCSIS 3.1 will create a new batch of super modems in a couple years, so owning this will likely allow you to skip the current D3.1 modems.

This CM600 should last many years assuming you are on a "normal" or advanced broadband tier and not the extreme fastest for $100s per month. Given that new compression schemes allow 4k streaming at around 25 Mbps, many people are fine with far less than what this modem can do.

All that said, $90+tax is still too much and I'd hunt around eBay for this if I needed a modem today. If you wait and look it can be had for not much more than the CM500 (16x4).

Pulled the trigger to replace an aging SB6121. Thanks OP.

$90 is Amazon's price floor on this unit (aside from a fluke sale at $88)

Enjoy it! For fun, you can visit the spectrum analyzer on this modem at 192.168.100.1:49200

Some instructions to help you understand what you're seeing and how to zoom on specific ranges (you can also just drag over areas).

The key to making little bumps where your upload and download channels are is to click BW and select YES for peak hold.

I used the 10$ coupon plus an amex offer for 25$ off any purchase of 50$ or more which got me a new modem for 67.43 with tax. Boom…thanks for the post. With the 25$ off coupon you have to pay a portion with amex points so I used a dollars worth of points.
