I wonder if it will be more economical to buy a chainmail shirt or to buy a bunch of these and piece them together...
At the temperatures you're cooking at with cast iron, those germs won't be around.
Sponges are a bacteria hotbed. You will have way less germs on your well-seasoned and properly cleaned cast iron. After you rinse them with water and heat gently on a stove to remove moisture. That also kills any surface bacteria.

I got one a while ago. Not sure why these are so popular as they really don't work well at all. To really prevent build up on cast iron you need a scraper.

I use the chainmail whenever I want to deep clean my cast iron. I don't have a scraper or brush.

Use these for other pots and pans just to get the food off. Then I use a sponge with soap. It's amazing.

The germaphobe in me can't get over the fact that cast iron is never scrubbed with soap and sponge or the heat of a dishwasher. With that said my wife loves cooking with cast iron and I ordered one, thanks OP!
