Downvoted Zombie and now downvoted this as well. You guys have gone completely mad paying this much for board games. Just really disappointed in what this community has become.
If you haven't tried modern board games and can't understand why they cost what they cost, then you probably shouldn't be commenting if it's a good deal or not.

What board games would you recommend someone?

EDIT: Similar to Massive Darkness, that is.

Thanks for telling us what we should and shouldn't support. worship The Greater Good. worship The Greater Good. worship

i've never looked much into this game, even with all of it's hype, however at $85 delivered it's hard to argue that it's "too much" for some entertainment. Even if this game is played once with 4 people, for a few hours in a night and never touched again, I'd argue that it's a better investment in fun per dollars spent.

If this is compared to numerous other activities that could be done outside of board gaming such as going to a Bar, going to Top Golf, going to an Escape Room (@$30/p for 30-60 minutes of entertainment), going to Dinner and a Movie is easily $30-60 per person these days, and that's nowhere near as entertaining and social fun with friends compared to a modern board game. And board games are reusable! If you play this TWO nights, wow look at you go with that Fun/$ ratio.

Would I prefer to spend just $30 on a board game like I used to? Sure, but the quality of gaming has improved astronomically over the years, I can afford it, my friends enjoy it...and oh yeah, I worked for that money so I can do with it what I want.

And if you think this is ridiculous you should go look at the 7th continent campaign on kickstarter right now.Ha ha

Edit: here's a link to a decent review on BGG for those who don't know what this is. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/...-afternoon

I agree here - board games nowadays have many more components and are much better quality than your run of the monopoly or scrabble. And yes $85 seems like a lot, but it comes down to perspective and personal utility- some would rather spend $10/day at Starbucks, I would rather drink tap water and buy this game Wink

Kickstarter was $120 and months of waiting to get. Sure it had exclusives but $85 is not a bad price. Might have picked up if not already getting Gloomhaven this month.

What's the learning curve like on this game? I have a group of friends that really enjoys the more complex board games... but getting tired of the initial game set up being multiple hours while we're learning all the new rules.

We all are avid gamers, so I doubt any of the concepts are new. Just trying to keep everyone focused as you learn the new rules can be .. shall we say.. challenging.

Would love to hear some feedback from anyone that's ran through this one a few times.

Great dungeon crawler that hits all the cravings of a miniatures game without the overly long and complicated ruleset. The basics of the game are exactly what they appear: go through a dungeon, kill the mobs, get loot, power up. The characters and the classes allow for some interesting mixing and matching. Rounds flow pretty smoothly, with very minimal interruptions or moments of confusion in regards to who is doing what. The AI system for the enemies can be a bit easy to game, but I personally would rather a have an easier AI to understand/explain to newer players than an overly complex one.

The only downfall in the game seems to come from the power curve. Starting the game in Level 1, things can be a little hard and you really have to rely on teamwork and strategy to take out mobs and roaming monsters. However, once your team hits level 3 and you start unlocking your skills and finding equipment that maxes out your dice rolls, it becomes a bit too easy. Late game combat also becomes a bit of a chore as there isn't really a good way to track all of the equipment and skill cumulative bonuses.

As is, the game is great for casual board gamers who would thrill of taking a lowly adventurer and turning them into a force of nature. For those who are seeking a more challenging game that requires grinding and careful strategy, don't fret. With some very minor house rules you can easily make this game what you crave. What's more, the game is ripe for owners to create custom scenarios. All of this combines for a product that I highly recommend for players of all types.

This reminds me- I should set some board game alerts. I'm thinking Eldritch Horror, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Mansions of Madness, and Dominion. One of those has a decent sale before Christmas and it's getting bought.

Board gamer here, you know not the kind that expects board games to always sell for under twenty dollars.

I would also like to know the learning curve on this. This looks intriguing. It's based on Zombicide the review say. The weight on boardgamegeek isn't too high and Zombicide isn't super complicated,, but if I already have Black Plague does this really add anything?

Hey SDerb4Uwereborn, I have $209 pledged to 7th Continent on Kickstarter, and it is a board game. I hope that gives you a stroke and you die on your keyboard.

You do know that if you don't like a deal, you can just skip over it?

There's tons of "deals" I don't think are any good... probably 1/2 of the front page stuff I think it overpriced. But I just don't click on it and go on to the next deal. Real easy.
