Since my 65" Office Depot order won't probably be honored (hasn't cancelled yet though) I jumped on this. Great price and 55" is still pretty big. You only lose two zones of backlights but what is two really when the size is 10 inches smaller. Also, the IPS panel is fine if you don't watch it from some crazy angle. My two cents.

I'm tempted considering it's 120hz. Solid for sports.

I haven't bought a computer monitor in years and have 2 24-inch monitors. Isn't 55 ridiculously huge for a desk monitor? Or does it essentially replace two monitors w/o much difference?

607 uses Roku. This one has Chromecast so it works with Google home and Assistant. Also, this one has better HDR and PC performance. The 607 has it beat on price per feature but the sale price on this makes it no contest.

As far as I know, Vizio's 2017 line has a Smart Cast TV app that lets you use some basic streaming apps through the TVs remote control instead of casting from another device.

Correct. It basically has a Chromecast built into it that does all that stuff. Netflix, Hulu, etc. However, it works the other way too. If you have a Google device, can say "Google, play XYZ on my TV" and it will start running the associated app and the media. Great if you have a pixel and Google home like me.

correct, it has a full UI for your most common apps now and a remote to navigate, but also retains google cast so you can easily stream anything from your phone in UHD / HDR (think of it like a chromecast Ultra built in.)
