Really? I thought Wizard and Glass was outstanding, probably my favorite yet. I haven't read 5-8 yet, but the backstory of Roland and Susan really got me.

Fantastic books.

Don't know if this is the original or extended edition of Gunslinger.

One of the few book series I have followed to the end. Final 3 books make some interesting choices, but I think its an amazing series.

Hope they scratch the failed movie and start fresh as an extended HBO TV series.

Despite the series taking a nosedive towards the end, Drawing of the three is excellent. Gunslinger feels like more of a prequel than the first book of the series really.

They're marketing the books as a stop gap to a (60m) movie that was POORLY received. Why not!

agreed. First 3 books were outstanding. I started losing interest trying to slog through the 4th.

I really disliked the first book, The Gunslinger...so doubt I'll go further in the series. It was written quite a while ago and the writing seems like King trying to impress with his ability to use big words...imho. The story also just seemed to have new plot points just suddenly come into being to enable the story to move forward. I'm sure there are a lot of fans that love this book, just didn't work for me.
