The TCL S405 is a good TV for a mixed usage. Its picture quality when viewed directly in front is pretty good, and it handles fast motion well. Its low brightness and deterioration of picture quality at an angle makes it a little less versatile though.

Recommended if under (USD) $770

The Walmart tv is the 65S401 - a less expensive Tv than the 405 model listed here.

A bit of a tie here ... The difference if any is minor. The panel/tv is actually the same.
From:rtings.com : Update 08/04/2017: The TCL S403 and S401 are nearly identical to the S405, and can be considered equivalent.

from: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=103569816&postcount=111 : Exact same tv diff model number so people cant price match. the s401,s403,s405 are the same.

This TV uses HRD10 and not Dolby Vision like the P series. It is relevant for anyone that wanted to use this with a 4K Apple TV.

This price is pretty much standard. Has been $800 many places for quite some time.

Like the others said, Walmart always has it at 700. Sometimes Amazon does too (and Target). And yes, it's the same TV despite the different model #.

yes it supports both. I assume Dolby Vision is better (I cant tell the difference) so to maximum the best possible image using a AppleTV 4k DV was a feature I was specifically looking for in a new TV.

I purchased this set on 09/19 from Costco. I chose it for the value, but it's increasingly buggy. It began to occasionally "refresh" the screen when scrolling through titles. Flash to black, then back to normal. Now, it typically can't get through an episode without it stopping play and reverting to the main menu. It seemed to happen about every 5-10 minutes today. Doesn't seem to happen with an external Roku stick plugged in, but then what's the point? I really wanted to like this manufacturer, but mine is going back to Costco. YMMV

Please tell me you are gonna take advantage of Costco's sweet, sweet 90 return policy.

How much did you pay for it ? I can't find it online.
I may get it for the office, closed space, not so bright, perfect price

This is a known issue with RokuTV models and is supposedly going to be fixed in the 8.0 firmware coming in November.

If we buy this TV, will we be able to upgrade the firmware fix in November? Would seem trivial if the update is backwards compatible.
