REI has $20 off of $100 in their Garage. Osprey Farpoint 80 is $99.73. Cheapest filler I found is a bike tube for $1.73. Total $81.45 before tax. Free shipping. Extremely good deal. Doesn't have the removable daypack like the smaller Farpoint models, but you can attach an Osprey Daylite pack to it if you'd like.Previous frontpage deal at $120 in July.

Good pack and price for traveling. FYI this is not a backpacking pack.

note the listed dimensions far exceed carry-on luggage limits even though one review mentions using it on Ryanair so not sure how that is possible. I think the reviewer must be confused and had the 55L version which you could possibly get by as a carry-on.

This is a pretty great price and Osprey makes great stuff, but unless you know you need an 80 liter for a specific purpose, spare your back and get something smaller.

Yeah, the reviewer is definitely confused with the 55L. I have the Farpoint 55L, and about 20% of the time I'm told to see if it'll fit in the sizer, which it does, but just barely. There's no way an 80L would fit.

The size is not to represent the capacity of the backpack, but the size in relation to the wearer. It's extremely important that the backpack fits the wearer properly to take full advantage of all the straps to transfer the weight from the shoulders to the hips during travel. If you're seriously considering this item, I would recommend going to an REI to get properly fitted.

Agreed. I can't think of a reason why you'd need an 80L pack unless maybe winter camping. When I travel to Europe/Asia, I take a 44L Kelty Redwing. When I do multi-day back country, I take a 58L Granite Gear that can expand to 65L, if needed (which I haven't).

You can often/sometimes bring these onboard as carry-on. Just wear it on your back rather than carry as duffel, and you may need to smash it a bit in the overhead.

This is the perfect size for African safari trips where you can't take rigid luggage on small point-to-point planes (Botswana to Zambia, etc.)

On the S/M it's actually 76L & 27" high, the M/L is 80L & 29" high. The sizing is like this if you plan on actually using this as some kind of backpack. I got the S/M and wished I got the larger size because I don't plan on using this as a true backpack or a carry on. I ordered the porter 65 and plan on returning it because I got this bag. Throw it on a luggage rack with some bungee cords and you have a high end rolling duffel.
