Just my 2 cents. from a quality of life perspective, am a Destiny 1 player since launch and played through all the D1 raid content (VoG through WotM) and seen the QoL updates.happen. Destiny 2 got a lot of the QoL features right, right off the bat:
- not needing to "go to orbit" first before going to another planet/tower
- multiple spawn in points on each planet AND fast travel within the planets
- clan perks - a big plus but no needed. You're losing out big time, though, if you're not in a clan.
- Vault space is decent but hoarders/collectors would think otherwise (esp if you have all 3 classes). I'm a collector/hoarder....
- No more Strange coins or Motes of light (IMO, less currency options, the better)
- Gear/Weapons have all their perks automatically available (no need to level them up just to have to pay with materials/glimmer to unlock the features)
- Similar to the colleciton kiosks in D1 (the big ipads) - there are menus for the exotic gear/weapons (that can be bought for legendary shards after you've 1st discovered them) and emblems
- Public events are now shown in the director, no need to go to a 3rd party app/website to rely on counters that estimate the next possible PE. And the PEs are abundant and frequent.
- those useless artifacts are gone
-no need to equip your highest power level gear to ensure your drops are as highest as possible!
- The subclass upgrading system seemed a lot more efficient and quicker to open the subclass perks
-Shaders can be applied to basically all gear (armor and weapons), ghosts, sparrows and ships!
- there are consumables to see planetary treasures (no need to learn the locations of each)
- and more

But, D2 also fell short (backwards, even):
- The collection kiosk type feature no longer exists for ships, sparrows, shaders, and emotes (AFAIK), for now anyway. Boo!
- Shaders are consumables now, and can't be removed/reused once applied. Big step backward, but likely the "balance" since we can apply shaders to more than just armor now.
- Not sure if I like the whole weapon/armor mod system much... but still cool, I guess, to add a specific feature to your gear
-storymode content/campaign was extremely short, but was still entertaining
-and more

Anyway, I can go on and others definitely have more to add, but in the end, I still think it's a good and fun game. I also consider it more of a "DLC" to D1, but I think it's worth the $40. Even more worth it at $30 or less.

Cheers

Patiently waiting for $20
That is because they are about to release a $15 DLC probably LOL. This game is such a money grab.

Considering how little content there is in it, I would wait for a sale around $20 or the inevitable dlc version that makes you rebuy the whole game.

This is a good purchase if you want to put 40-50 hours into it and do a little of everything in the game.

Currently the game does not please D1 players who expected satisfying reasons to keep playing once everything has been completed. After I got the platinum, I traded my copy in. Might rebuy on PC when more content is out.

I'm usually not into FPS games, but I bought Destiny 2 on a whim, because I saw one with a Buy it Now price of $37.50 on EBay just a few days after it came out. It's actually really fun.

A lot of people were expecting more than D1...except they forgot that D1 wasn't just D1...it was D1+2 DLCs+ TTK + RoI.....

D2 is far from perfect...but enjoying it so far! and there is some flow to the story that doesn't require you going to Bungie's website to read grimoire cards...

Great game, but don't expect much endgame content right now.
