How to save on baby registry?

we are about to have a baby. I heard that you can save money by creating a registry and buying stuff off of registry. I am not interested in sharing my registry for gifts.
Other than that, which registry saves you the most and what do I need to do to save more?
Please advice.

Target is best with a 15% off coupon & sample basket at customer service. Buy buy baby and babies r us have samples too. Amazon has some deals, but you have to buy a lot from the registry before they kick in.

Amazon has a one time 15% off coupon, so I would say keep adding stuff to the registry and make a big purchase. You also get $100 to spend on select diapers, wipes, creams etc. once your total registry purchases exceed $1000. They also have a welcome box with samples, but you need to unlock it by having at least $10 in registry purchases. We got a nice swaddle blanket which usually costs $15 in the box
