I still remember when the 64GB model would go on sale repeatedly for ~15 shipped.
flash prices are so stagnant over the past year

That's what I figured. Was gonna get it to use as expandable storage for my Nvidia Shield but will go with a full sized drive instead.

Lexar S45s don't get hot and actually perform slightly better on my benchmark but they have a blindingly bright blue light that can literally light up a room so probably not best for htpc. If you're really wanting to make it low-profile though, there are videos on youtube on how to remove the LED with a soldering iron but keep the drive functional.
