What's the point of your post... Moral boost? As poster said above, ambient lighting looks really nice in certain homes. That's great it's a waste of money for you, but could be a deal for those waiting for a price drop.

I have both this and the Hue Go. The Bloom is a bit brighter and more focused...but I do like the Go's portability for stuff like ambiance lighting on backyard porch or deck.

IFTTT works on both... for example, my Go turns blue when it's raining.

Are either really necessary? Of course not. But I like 'em, and don't regret the purchases.

Does anyone know if this is standalone or do you need a hub for this?

Btw This whole thread is cancer. Are there no mods in Slickdeals?

Well this is good for ambient light. Some young people like it. Just aesthetics.

Can you post some more specific use cases for the bloom? I have one but haven't really found a good place for it except for back-lighting the Christmas tree

The bloom needs to be plugged in to electricity all the time, hard to find a nearby plug where you need them or hide wires

I have two of these. One in my game room behind the tv, which gives the room a nice background light. And one at the corner of my bedroom with a warm orange-red light which looks really nice as uplifting and serves as a convenient night light for my baby

While I don't agree with the phrasing, I understand the sentiment. I am surprised people want to light their rooms up in various colors. Maybe I am old fashioned, but it seems odd to me.
Not necessary different color the same time. You can light up your room with one color at one time and another one in different time depends on your mood. I have some color stripes setup in my living room which charging color slowly. If you have seen some pools background light, you will know what I am talking about. They are very beautiful.

These are more of a decoration piece more so than a lighting solution. I agree that a bright lime light as the main lightbulb in ur room is weird but this is not that. Wall paint would be more comparable imo.
