Hey everyone, I noticed Frys.com has the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-4 gaming laptop for $997 after rebates. This has been $2 cheaper in the past but today it's actually available for shipping. It's pretty good for a thin (0.77") gaming laptop with the Intel i7-6700HQ and GTX 1060. Just thought I'd alert everyone it's available to shipping this time. You'll need a code from their newsletter that knocks it down to $1147, and then there's a $150 mail in rebate.

There's a unique coupon code emailed to bring the price to $999. This is more like MSRP at this point. I own one. You can play all game at almost max setting on the 1080p screen.

I got this laptop during the last deal. I got it open box at fry's for a total of $845 after MIR. The HDD is kinda slow, and is especially problematic when downloading windows updates, but it works ok otherwise, though an SSD would be an smart upgrade. The CPU does get a bit hot during intense gaming, so a cooling pad is recommended. I also undervolted my CPU by 0.150V to keep the temps from getting too hot.
In spite of a couple bad things, this really is an amazing laptop! It's quite thin, runs quite smoothly, the display looks quite nice, and the GPU is the real star of this laptop. I can run just about any game on at least High/Very High graphics, and some on Ultra. For the $850 I spent, this was truly a slick deal! (And it is still a slick deal for $997.

I heard adding an SSD was a pain.

I'm surprised at the TDs. This deal has been reoccurring for a while now but this is an excellent laptop. Quite uncommon to see such a powerful machine in such a compact size. At this price it's really hard to beat.

Hey,
yeah I'm on NBR forums. The 7577 is a great machine, ran a lot cooler than the GS63VR that I had before and was much quieter. You hit the nail on the head though that it's big, much bigger than the XPS (even though the GS63VR is a bit bigger as well). Performance wise the GS63VR was faster in 3dmark than the 7577, but that's to be expected since it has a full 1060 vs the Max Q design, but it was only about 10% faster.

awesome thanks for the reply ..honestly when im gaming most likely itll be connected to my monitor at home so heat isnt an issue ..id rather have the portability of the gs63vr than the 7577's weight and size.. i even read that that the msi is lighter than the xps.. seems like a perfect machine for my needs plus theres no red back light which isn't very professional in my opinion lol thanks for the reply Smilie
