FYI: There is a very easy method to setup a shutdown/startup button for the pi now. It includes a push button and working LED that is only on while the device is on. It shuts down the pi safely so there is no risk of SD card corruption. I did it to mine on Sunday. I think it would be a very good addition to your gifts if they do not want the devices on all of the time or if they are for kids that may not safely shut them down.

This might seem a bit daunting at first if you have never done anything like it before. It took me about 20 minutes and if i had to do it again, less than 10.

Push buttons with LED (5 Pack) $6: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011DRJHMU/

ETA Prime instructional video for wiring the button and LED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeEaZDUgjfk
His video has multiple links in the description to wiring diagrams to make things easier. Just treat the two contacts on the switch for the LED as the separate LED he uses in the video. I did not do any soldering; I just stripped some DuPont wires on one end, wrapped them tightly around the button contacts and hot glued them in place.

ETA Prime instructional video for setting up the push button within the OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4...e=youtu.be
This requires you to enable SSH and also have Wi-Fi setup on the Pi.

NOTE: The Pi 3 changed UART behavior and you need to make one change not in the video in order for the light to remain on when the Pi is running in full power mode: Go into /boot/config.txt (use sudo nano /boot/config.txt) and add the line enable_uart=1
This may require a reboot.

This setup will put the Pi into a "sleep" state which draws very little power. Since the OS is shut down, you can safely remove power.

This link is to make sure Emulation Station saves your metadata every time you use the button. It is only really necessary if you added new roms/edited settings. It will always save if you exit from within Emulation Station. I won't be making any changes to my setup so I am not going to take the time to add the scripts to my Pi. So, setup your roms and get everything configured and exit from within the software. You can then safely use the button going forward.

Is this a good deal? Been looking at the bundle on amazon and at most I would only save $2 buying it all separately. Dont have a Power cord or case lying around.

Just a heads up, don't expect it shipped out as soon as their site says they will. (meaning, if you're in a hurry, Amazon is a better choice). The last 2 orders I've placed with them didn't ship out for at least 4 business days.

If you're not in a hurry though, this is a good price.

I had the opposite experience. I actually bought one from them last week (I will see if the do a price adjustment). I placed the order on Wed. around 11am and it arrived at my door (via FedEx) next day on Thus around 3pm.
