How do I earn extra data? (Freedom Friends)

You can earn additional free data each month by connecting with friends on FreedomPop! You'll earn 50MB of additional data for every friend that joins our service per month, up to a maximum of 500 MBs per month. Both your account and your friends account must be active. If either account is dormant, sharing data will not work.

You can also share data between friend accounts (a maximum of 500 MBs, and 100 MBs with each friend). The account sharing data must be an active one. If the account is inactive it cannot share data with any friends and data cannot be requested of that account.

Please Note: If you have already received 500MBs of data -- either from the automatic Freedom Friends function that gives you 50MBs per friend or from data that has been shared with you -- you will not be able to accumulate more data from Friends. Please refer to the following support article for more information regarding Freedom Friends: https://support.freedompop.com/ap...86/kw/data

If I signed up for a paid plan or trial, how do I downgrade it?

You can downgrade your plan/trials directly from your FreedomPop account page. Please Note!
If your credit balance is less than $2, you will incur a charge when you attempt to downgrade your account. When downgrading to the free plan, an account balance is required to protect from fraud and leakage, as data usage can be delayed up to 3 hours. A pop up will alert you to the $10 charge. You will not incur the charge (and the downgrade will not be complete) until you confirm through the pop up window. The $10 charge puts $10 in credit onto your account. For more information please refer to the following support article: https://support.freedompop.com/ap...#downgrade

Why was I charged $0.01?
If you incurred a $0.01 charge, and have questions about your bill, please refer to our Service Plans Terms agreement by clicking here [freedompop.com]. Make sure to scroll down, and review the "Active and Suspended Broadband and Phone Service" section for detailed information about this charge.

"Free basic" plan isn't quite free: you're charged $.01 if you don't use it any given month.

The maintenance verification charge is applied to ensure that you have the capability to utilize our services by verifying the payment method on file. Be advised that this will not affect your current plan. If you incurred a $0.01 charge, and have questions about your bill, please refer to our Service Plans Terms agreement by clicking https://www.freedompop.com/servic..._terms.htm Make sure to scroll down, and review the "Active and Suspended Broadband and Phone Service" section for detailed information about this charge.

hi, i recently put this on my 2 kids phones and have $5 credit on each of their accounts to avoid the top up function.

i was not aware there would be a 0.01 inactivity charge. my kids mostly use this as wifi devices, but once in a while they leave the house and might use data. however, even the chance they go a whole cycle/month without doing that is high - are you saying i will be charged $0.01 each month they dont use it?

i suppose in the end, that would be 12 cents a year and likely <$1 before they would need a new phone, but just want to ensure I understand how it works.

I think change in policy is fine.... problem most members have here is policy changes and we get no emails announcing these changes or suddenly find these new .01 charges appear. Well, we get spam email for "Free offers" all the time, so why can't Freedompop email these changes the same way without us finding out these "sudden" changes in policy after. Then you refer to a plan term that wasn't what we originally signed up for?!

You would make your job here on the forums easier just by posting policy changes BEFORE they happen so Freedompop threads don't get all the THUMBS DOWNS because of this lack of transparency. Pointing to the terms AFTER it's changed doesn't work for us. Be proactive not reactive!

If you are on the Free Monthly Broadband Plan or the Free Monthly Phone Plan and (a) do not make a payment for excess usage, Value Added Services, or Other Services in any particular month and (b) use less than 5mb or make fewer then five (5) calls in any given month, FreedomPop reserves the right to charge you a $0.01 maintenance fee ("Maintenance Fee")

I got supposed one charge of $0.01 but FP charged two times of $0.01 to my credit card in the same day of 9/28/2017. I had PM a message to FP here and wait for the answer why they charged two times to my card for only one charge on my billing overview. I tried to upload my credit card statement with the PM message but don't find an option to attached a statement to the PM message.
