Not really a good deal unless you want to stay in Hirschberg.

I can't imagine wanting to go to Europe and staying in the same city all 5 nights.

Looks like they had $499 dates also but are sold out now. What major cities are within drive-able distance?

Google search for things to do there: a park that looks like it borders some condos, a museum, and a river. That's it. Maybe a good deal to get and travel elsewhere, maybe book cheap hostels and travel Germany but I'd rather do it myself

So you're basically getting a plane ticket and a crappy rental car, which you have little control over. The hotel is a dump so that's not worth much, if anything. And you're going all this way for six days?

You can get round trips to Europe all the time now for $500 to $600.

Where's the deal?

here's the hotel on tripadvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel...mberg.html

highlights: "room smells funny"

rates start at $54/night... not exactly a luxurious place.

there are frequently flights from NYC to Frankfurt around $4-450. For the $1600 this groupon costs, you could get your own tickets for $900, then have $700 left over for the rest. Cars look like they're going for $175 for the same period, so that gives you $525 left for 5 nights of hotel... meaning you can get rooms that run over $100/night, instead of the groupon rooms that are getting you shitty $54/night rooms.

I guess it's a good deal if you don't want to spend any of your time to save yourself money, but if that's you, you probably aren't reading this on sd.

Agree with others though, if you have to return in a week it's a shit deal

Of course you can travel a little around Germany with the rental, but you're not really close to anything when you factor in having to return to your hotel

This really isn't a deal since you are stuck in the same town every night. I guess if you wanted to see Frankfurt and Stuttgart it is ok. But it's very far away from Berlin. I'd never drive the manual either.

The autobahn is basically what Germany calls it's highways. So it's all across the country and if you're looking to speed within reason you can do that pretty much on any of the autobahns. Wink
