I was waiting for a deal on some good PC speakers, but might as well try my first studio monitors.

These were great when I had them, not worth full price as JBL 305 and Yamaha HS5 pairs are around that range now if you look hard enough, but at half off this is a no brainer if you don't want to move up to the $200-$300 range.

I've since moved on to Genelecs, but these were an amazingly solid pair, at $100 this is a great deal.

I am by no means an expert and this comment is more directed to the first commenter, but these are studio monitors and are not suited for use as regular speakers. The sound is flat, and while that's great for recording playback, they do nothing to enhance the sound.

Hope this helps anyone else who may not know as much. Maybe others can help give more detailed info.

Don't worry about me I did my research about desk positioning, monitor height and proper angle, audio interfaces, etc. I know they're flat by design.

Would studio monitors work better than regular speakers for listenimg to / being able to understand poor quality voice recordings?

Have these on my computer. They are excellent for gaming, chat, music, etc..... You can adjust the bass and treble on the back. Bluetooth is a nice touch as well for hooking in your mobile and listening to music.

yeah i saw that deal later in the day when it just expired... ragrets....
These are good... you won't regret it. I moved the set from my PC to Alexa... replaced with the 3.5s on the PC... waited for this deal... buying some for myself and others. They are great as PC speakers... and equally great from the 1/8" out of an Echo. I like that they have auto-on with a signal (yes, you miss the first few words from Alexa as they take a second to come on, but I'd rather have that, than speakers that must be turned on, or stay on... and after the first song/request, there's no delay until the Echo has been sitting dormant/off for a while again... like next day, etc)... oh, and the sound quality is outstanding (at this price). I'd be surprised if the Tascams came close, and I'm actually a fan of Tascam products... but these are surprisingly accurate sounding. The input from the person who moved up to Genelecs should tell people something... because those are way high-end... and he/she also said these are very good for the money.
