Advice on Replacement Power Supply

47 17 October 16, 2017 at 02:12 PM
I have an old arcade style 2005 Golden Tee game that needs a new power supply. The one it currently has (APS 250w Switching Power Supply Model: ZKS-250WX) has died. Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction of a replacement one. Thanks.

A quick google of that part number and it looks like just a standard PC ATX power supply. If so and the wiring is the same anything will work. The Corsair builder series goes on sale often and would be fine. More wattage won't be a problem, the console will only use what it needs.

I know nothing of your golden tee arcade game. I googled the power supply and came up with a standard atx power supply as your other advisor on this thread said. I have used those old generic power supplies in my older computers. In that case measure the dimensions of your power supply unit. You may have a little more room in the case of the arcade game. Some atx psu's are a tiny bit bigger. Here is one on sale at newegg [newegg.com] for $25 shipped to your home. It has a $10 rebate. It is on sale thru 10-19. Make sure the connectors on the unit are good for your machine. This is a 450 watt unit by EVGA a notable good company. Your machine will only use what is needs. On the newegg site read the reviews. Mostly good but one guy said the unit caused a fire. If that happened very often you would see a lot of unhappy reviews. Mostly what happens is what happened to you they just quit. I had a psu quit intermittently after 7 years of use. I have video cards from evga and an 850 modular psu and have never had a problem. Get the rebate in pronto and save another $10. Modular (unlike this one) psu's allow you just to plug in the cables you need but at a higher expense. Good luck. Hope this helps. I picked this psu because it was a good deal from a good company. Here is is posted on slickdeals today.
