Pretty good deal if you don't already have an interface and don't care that it's gen 1. I use a gen 1 2i2 and it's super solid. The Focusrite's have great built-in pre-amps and a really low noise floor as well, so if you're looking for something for a simple single/double mic home studio, this would last you a while.

I'm a little confused by these devices. I have a nice headphone DAC/amp that I'd like to feed into some powered studio monitor speakers. Would a device like this help in some regard? TIA

it's an audio interface Wink would work for you if you are using a "real" mic (xlr terminated!) / btw - if you have powered monitors - ?! - make sure you are feeding line level into powered monitors ! some DAC/AMPs offer a preamp out ! Rock

sound-wise Wink not much - except they fixed latency issue
(see my reply above) ! also knobs have colored marks and both - face & back panels got a more contrasty markings ! all mk2s got a white logo on top laugh out loud

I been using an old Tascam US-800, so the 6i6 is what I was looking to upgrade to for the MIDI in/out and match with the similar ins and outs this tascam has. Think I'll wait for the gen2 though since its only a little bit more IIRC

Actually I'm not sure if the +$50 would be worth getting the Gen2, anyone got some input on this?

Anyone know if the 616 interface can be used with an iPad?
I would want to use it with the "Garage Band" App.
How would it connect?

Yup, you can. You need a separate power supply for the Scarlett as well as the Apple Camera Connection Kit and their Scarlett Mix Control software (free).

Here's Focusrite's official guide on setting this up: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/...to-an-iPad
