windows media player - locks up windows 10

7,985 1,451 October 16, 2017 at 05:59 PM
Running windows 10 home edition... when I play videos in windows media player 10, or movies and tv, the system locks up... I have to hold the power button to turn it off and reboot

Tried sfc /scannow.... uninstalled wmp 10... uninstalled and reinstalled graphics card...

Anything else I can do other than going over to a different player? Thanks.

I would run scandisk on your hard drives. Is it just one video file or type of files or is it all files (Low resolution). Have you tried a different player like VLC? Are you noticing any other problems? What are the specs of your system?

We really need to get over the "downgrade to Win 7" crap in every Win 10 thread.

Agreed! It's not possible on most new hardware nor is a practical answer to a question like this.
