Why buy this vs. buying something used off Craigslist? I'm seeing dirt cheap computers off CL.

Wouldn't a deal like this for $160 be better?

I'm probably missing something though.

..............
Processor - Athlon IIx4 635 quad core
RAM - 4gb
Motherboard - Foxconn M61PMV
Graphics card - HD 4850 1gb 256bit
Hard drive - 250gb along with a 200gb
Case - basic black case
Disc drive - DVD/RW
Operating system - win 7 pro 64bit
Power supply - 500 watt
Monitor - 20 inch dell
This is a solid system. Will have no problem playing most games. Will also be great for any other computing task. It supports over clocking as well. Has great potential for upgrades. Any questions feel free to ask. Located in Galesburg IL. Asking 160$ you may test anything you would like.

What you pasted here is an OK deal, but you're buying 6-7 year old hardware that probably has thousands of hours of use. 6-7 year old hardware will probably do most of what the average user needs, but the CPU in this machine was a low mid range option back in 2010 and would likely struggle if tasked with a anything more advanced than web browsing.

If you're just looking for the cheapest option out the door there are lower cost options compared to this cpu/motherboard combo when you add the rest of the hardware necessary to build a desktop PC.

Depends on the need. The current deal is great for building an HTPC and for casual gaming. The Craigslist system is about just as capable but no 4k output for htpc. It will need a better card. It has a higher TDP. Graphics is very feeble. But for the price it is a good deal. Depends on what you're looking for.
The current deal has an upgrade path and can be made into a proper gaming or productivity work station by swapping out cpu and adding a capable gfx card.

This is an ASRock Motherboard in the bundle not MSI. The ASRock is well reviewed by customer base. Solid deal if on a non gaming budget.(probably ok for some titles at 720p) Fairly week sauce CPU with a decent iGPU better than the Intel HD630 iGPU. So Video card not needed. Motherboard is future proof for about three years and will accept AND overclock Ryzen CPU's. The ASRock is the star of the deal iMO

" Will have no problem playing most games." is a red flag in my book considering the GPu is about 9+ yrs old, the CPU is 7+ yrs old, the memory/ram is below average for desktops/laptop these days.(my phone has the same amount.) At best its low end gaming machine, as a HTPC if you have the time raspberry pi would be cheaper and use less energy. Depending on your needs, you might be able to look for a cheap PC, but I wouldn't recommend the one above for $160. Look for lenovo, dell, etc refurb/outlets.
