From my own personal experience, I will never touch another Seagate drive again, yes, I know these are enterprise drives, but they left me traumatized when 3 drives failed within 2 days.

Also the whole dealing with rebates. I would rather go for the HGST that have popped up on here a few times: https://urlhasbeenblocked/vsPzDN it's currently $4 more, but no need to deal with rebates.

This or the Hitachi (no, not the wand) that has shown up recently? People with knowledge please pipe in. Reviews say 3-4 years of on time with bad sectors. Thanks.

I'll never touch a refurb hard drive again. Bought a $35 2TB refurb Hitachi enterprise drive about a year ago. Turned out to be a server pull, with unbelievable use hours and plenty of bad sectors. Not even good for non critical storage. Live and learn.

this is sold by Newegg and not goHarddrive - which is a plus.
also covered by ShopRunner for free returns (Newegg does for defective anyway).

If you get one with a few reallocated sectors (one reported a dozen) - it's not an issue unless the count continues to grow. Have one from a few years back - still running strong.

I just cannot in good faith recommend a refurb HDD. Saving so few dollars in exchange for so much risk just seems like a bad gamble.
