Work at sherwin Williams. A gallon usually covers from 350 to 400 square feet. If your transaction exceeds $50 we can apply a $10 off on top of the sale. This means for bigger orders you can split it up into multiple transactions and get even more off. If you want the highest quality exterior then even on sale its still roughly $50 per a gallon. So the $10 off can bring it even lower than the products below it quality wise. Just for the $10 off its kind of a if we like the customer type thing because its time consuming. You're more likely to have them willing to do it towards the end of the day when the store is slow. So make sure to sweet talk or be really nice to the employee you deal with.

Found my amex, also expires 12/18/17.

I've used Benjamin moore and SW paint extensively. I don't have much experience with the big box paint. Used valspar on a house once, don't remember thinking it was very good. I'm a believer in spending the extra money on paint. I used the bejamin moore "BEN" line which is toward their lower end, and was happy with it. Now for my house I'm mainly using SW Duration. It's a little runny, but it seems to be holding up well.

With the SW sales and coupons I can usually get it for around $45-$50 a gallon. Might save a little at the big box, but I also feel your going to get better service at SW or BM. Your going to have your questions answered by someone who just does paints. Yes, in some home depots or lowes they might have great paint people but on average, your better off at SW or BM... IMHO!!!

Beat me to it.

For those that have the offer, I suggest you follow blees link to their post about how to maximize the coupons/ amex offers by purchasing a $200 GC then using the GC for multipl transactions using the 40% and 15 off 60.

How good are these paints compare to Glidden and Behr and others. I want to paint the exterior of my house here in southern CA and it's stucco.

Do they raise the prices up 40% these weeks so net-net it's the same price?

I will say I hired a pro painter who used the top of the line Sherwin Williams paint for some exterior work and I did other exterior painting with the Consumer Reports highest rank paint and the Sherwin Williams paint has held up much better.

No, they do not raise the prices during these promos. Contractors get 40% all year round from what I have heard.

I also really like the SW quality for the most part. However, I only buy when they have the 40% deals and I can combine it with $ off coupons.

They have several quality tiers but the pricey stuff is very good paint. Can't stand Glidden, Behr is OK. SW prices for exterior paint start at about $50 for the lowest and go up to about $90 for the top of the line, per gallon. I'm experimenting with using the best stuff on the side of the house that gets the most exposure and then going with the average quality for the rest of the house.

Unfortunately, the AMEX deal expires two days before the SW deal starts.

Yes, I do this all the time. However, you should have a general idea of what type of paint you need and not just buy random gallons. i.e. if you are painting trim or a bathroom, there are recommend types of paints to buy.
