both are lacking in features:

the Vivosmart HR+ is okay, would be nice if it could be used with a strap

the Garmin Forerunner 630 has no optical HRM

both are 3 year old devices and IMHO the Forerunner is overpriced in contrast to the Vivosmart. the Forerummer is basically for someone who runs a lot.

The forerunner 630 is not over priced for a runner, especially one that already has a standalone optical hrm (like me). If I had not picked up the 230 recently I would have been all over this. The 630 blows most everything out of the water when it comes to running features.

I have this device and I gotta say it isn't very smart as the name says.

My biggest gripe is that when I'm charging it thinks I'm sleeping, so the stats get all skewed

Where does it say this forerunner 630 has inbuilt HRM? The description says it can be paired with an HRM, probably the chest strap.

Edit:
I think you meant you already have an HRM. So, ignore my question.

I have the HR+ and I am really happy, was gonna go with the Fitbit Charge 2. But chose this one because...
1. Garmin GPS is really accurate.
2. This tracker is water proof. (Even though i don't swim) I always think sport trackers should be water proof, because I run in rain and usually sweat a lot.

$60 is a great price, although I am not so sure I would buy a refurb (unless I know for sure the band was replaced(.

Garmin GPS is superior. Have a sister in law getting in to hiking and biking. This is great, and if she ditches the hobby i'm not set back as much on a new one. Good find. Does the refurb come with a warranty?

I have a Garmin 310xt model that was factory refurbished. Couldn't tell it was refurbished. Good battery life and all. Beginning of this year I upgraded to a new 920xt when there were some real slick deals on that model.

As some posters mentioned, these watches are geared towards running (or swim/bike/run) on tri models. Some of the other bells and whistle type features maybe can be had on other types of smart watches geared more for tech junkies. I mean, my watch does have alert when paired with my phone for texts, but I rarely use that functionality. I think Garmin excels for training/racing - that is why I got one and have been happy with it.

This deal looks great even for refurbs.
I currently have the vivoactive - how different is the vivosmart than that?

The forerunner looks great for running and I have heard as much, my question is does it track any other sports like cycling at all?

I love it when something comes along just when you need it. My girlfriend has been wanting a Forerunner, and now I can afford it. I've been purchasing refurbs as long as I can remember, and have yet to have a negative experience.

The name should give you a clue: "For e Runner" Wink .

The watch was designed for runners in mind. It comes with Cycling, Running and indoor Running. You can also add other sports profiles per your need. But the focus of the design is for runners.

Anybody know which activity trackers/smartwatches have storage to hold music files that can feed to Bluetooth headphones without the phone? (Like the Fitbit Ionic) TIA
