Different uses. The WD Red drives are slower (5400rpm) but designed for 24/7 use. This is simply a fast drive, more comparable to the WD Black line. The seagate equivalent to the WD Red is the 'Ironwolf' line

I've had way too many Seagate drives fail over the years to reliably trust them for large amounts of data.

Yup I chose the 8tb 5900RPM against 7200RPM for the 2TB of extra storage. And 7200RPM 6TB can be around 200$ too when I got the 8TB so this is pretty good.
