If prefer, Amazon has it for $40.99 (not quite a price match) - Thanks eyes1216

Would this be hard to start playing from scratch? Seeing as so many people have played for years?
How much life is left in this game?

Tempted to give this yet another try since I've got gamestop store credit burning a hole in my pocket. Would work for PC in-store pickup i'm assuming?

But i bet the dumb credit can't be used on sub cards (if they exist) -_-

Has the new expac revolutionized the game in anyway? Couldn't STAND the 2.5s gcd my first few attempts/characters in realm reborn.

Lots. Stormblood expansion just came out a couple months ago. Takes a while to catch up to content that's current, though.

Once you're a higher level, you're generally weaving skills between the gcd. Especially on certain classes. If you can't stand it for the earlier levels though, you'd have to grind through un-fun to get to potentially fun. Nothing revolutionary changed in the new expnasion.

Don't they let you buy your way through the previous expansions now? Could've sworn I saw some way to bypass it through the store.

Indeed they do offer that, but it's expensive and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're trying to join a group of friends that actively play at that level. There's no real reason to skip straight through to the latest expansion otherwise.

No I just started a week ago with the trial. The trial is good until you hit the lvl 35 so you can start with that first and see if you'll like it. I think it's on the slower side and holds your hand. The main focus is the story. Since you can't advance unless you hit the level requirement.

I started playing the free trial about a month ago. Haven't been playing every day but I think I'm only about halfway through the original campaign. The complete edition includes both expansions, which from my understanding add a ton of more story content. among other things. I've heard the story itself doesn't really pick up till the end of the original campaign, but both the expansions have pretty good stories.

My advice would be not to rush through it. I would probably start with the free trial first to see if the game is appealing to you and whether it seems like something worth a monthly sub fee down the road. The free trial lets you level up to 35 and no longer has any time limits so you get a decent chunk of the game to play for free without any time limits or obligations. Unfortunately sales on the game itself are somewhat sporadic, but I'd guess it hits this price again around BF or end of the year. Buying the complete edition will give you 30 days play time as well.

Also if you want to level up quicker, consider joining a preferred world upon character creation. It nets you double XP on basically everything, which can level you up pretty quickly. It should also give you 15 days of bonus play time once you hit lv 30 on a class, so you can get 45 days of playtime once you get the complete edition.

Wonderful game, and you get a whole lot of content in that 39.99 (and sub thereafter). A LOT of stuff is locked behind story quests, including the expansions, so if you don't care for that, you may have a time getting through it. It's a great time and the community is good and helpful (on Malboro) anyways..

Like it was said before, you can pay to skip the story, but then the slickness of this deal goes away, and truly the Heavensward storyline is one of the best in all of the Final Fantasy series. It's really good. Prepare for lots of questing, and a ton of dungeons to experience.
