The last rod I ordered from a slick deal on Amazon I never received. Keep getting emails asking if I want to cancel or wait, even though it shows in stock at retail price.

If amazon still ships rods in 2 cardboards box taped together, good luck. Never again.

edit: as for the deal, daiwa tatula rods are a bit on the "stiffer" side. their medium are like medium heavy for other brands. i would say their rod ratings are similar to abu garcia. i own a 7 mh tatula xt and it's my last go to rod, too stiff.

Good one. I really hate slickdeal alert. Always remind me a few hours later. A lot of deal is expired at that time.

They still ship them in card board boxes- 75% of the fishing rods I have received are broken with bent boxes - AMAZON wont post that review because its a shipping issue and not the product - Its a PITA to return and go their the process - buyer beware

Ordered a fishing rod from Amazon a few weeks ago. Arrived in a cardboard tube nearly bent in half. I showed them a picture of the packaging and told them the rod was missing so I didn't have to waste my time shipping back a piece of trash.

Seems like this deal is dead since there are zero rods left for $81, or anything close to it.

I too have had several rods broken when mailed in the 2-box rigged setup. What kills me is half have come from Dick's/Field and Stream so you would think they'd have half a clue to ship them in propper packaging. And most were 2 piece rods that had they taken the halfs apart it probably would have shipped just fine in the shorter tube or 1 piece box.
