Good chance this will end up being a permanent price drop. iRobot's stock is down almost 25% since SharkNinja announced their Shark robot vacuum lineup, with the 750 model priced at $350 and being a direct competitor feature wise to the higher end models in the Roomba 800 series.

Good price. Only about $25 more than the Costco 805 when it goes on sale.

just posted a link for said shark vacuum I just bought. Brings the total price with a coupon code to below $300.

I feel like the old brush version worked better on my hard floors..

The new rollers don't seem to pick up as much.

I've been checking out the Neato D80. Watched about 2 hours worth of videos last night.
How does this compare to the 980 and 880?

Good review? Can it be controlled by Alexa?

I HIGHLY recommend Neato over Roomba. The technology Neato used is great because it actually maps a room by going around the boarder and then back and forth in between to clean. The Roomba just bounces all around and I swear it does not clean half of the time.

I had the Brovac D65 from costco for about 2 years and absolutely loved it. Once I replaced it, costco no longer carried it and only had the roomba (do not know the exact model) I am not a fan of it at all. Sadly still using it because of costcos return policy and the life on these are not the greatest.

I would have to actually compare the models you listed but Roomba will have rollers compared to brushes and the filters on Roomba are nicer but Neato has the technology and by far the best feature on the robot vacuums. If somehow the Roomba model 880 or 980 model has a different technology besides the normal bouncing around being useless. I could change my stance on this.

The 890 and 980 use a camera mapping technology.

I compared the D65 to the 980 and the roomba was the winner. It's a great robot and would be my recommendation for anyone looking for one. The D65 is nice but doesn't do nearly as well with obstacles.

The Neato didn't do well in picking up sand, which makes me question if it is really a better vacuum (as in how well it sucks up dirt)

According to CNET: "iRobot's Roomba 880 scored the highest for sand with 0.35 ounce on midpile (out of a total of 1.25 ounces), 0.58 ounce on low-pile and 1.25 ounces on hardwood. The Botvac D85, on the other hand, did not handle the sand well at all. In fact, it picked up only 0.33 ounce on midpile carpet, 0.25 ounce on low-pile carpet and 1.24 ounces on hardwood."

So what you are saying is the only difference is on a low pile carpet. That midpile and hardwood comparisons are almost identical... Plus, I do not think people get that much fine objects in there house. Like I said, the roomba has better brushes but that is not the selling factor to me. I run it daily so I am sure if it misses it one day, it will get it the next. Would much rather that then a vacuum that forgets to clean a room.

Selling point, if you live at the beach and have carpet, get roomba. Not sure many people at the beach use carpet....

Very interesting. So how does this camera mapping technology work? Does it map out a room and then clean with a set path? All roombas I have seen just bounces around like a ping pong ball. Glad to see they are making the change with their technology. Biggest let down of their product.
Just checked costco and they have the 960C. Does it have this technology you talk about? Says "iAdapt® 2.0 Navigation with Visual Localization" Which sounds like what you mentioned. If so, I may consider taking my 805 back and upgrading. I have provided a link to the model.
