OK guys,

Not a -Bad Deal-

But keep in mind.. There's a reason they make thicker cables.. Less internal resistance means better signal, and you simply need more mass for that.

The reason why this 30awg cable is only offered in Short lengths is precisely because the signal degradation would be severe if it were much longer.

A solid core 23awg shielded cable can run ~300-1000 feet at Gigabit speeds, depending on build quality.

23awg shielded is the industry standard for network backbone..

This type of 30awg (thin) cable can only hold gigabit for ~25-50 feet tops..

Since they're sold in 14 feet packs, when BRAND NEW, you've got nothing to worry about in terms of speed..

But over time, as the copper corrodes a bit, as no cable jacket is Completely water proof.. moisture will eventually seep into the copper through the jacket, Thin cables may go bad on you.

These cables are not meant to be ran 50ft. This is a good deal for this type of cable.

Not everyone has the endcaps, cutting tool, crimping tool, and expertise to turn 50 feet of cable into a handful of smaller cables. For those of us looking to have a handful of small, well-built cables to connect some devices, this is an excellent deal and much more appropriate than a 50 foot cable.

These are really nice. We just moved into a new office and I used these for all my cross connects and servers.

Seconded, these are great quality. Thin cable so very flexible, no wiggle in the connector, great for portable use

With free shipping, this is actually a pretty good deal for the packs of shorter 3' / 1' patch cables.

There is no need for a larger cable on such runs as you stated so it's really a moot point. As far as corrosion is concerned, where are you putting your gear?
