Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of the $35 cordless blower?

I know it blows...

I don't have this specific one, but I do have a different version (link below). It's good for sweeping out the garage and patio, and for grass clippings. But it has nowhere near the power of a true blower. I don't believe you will be able to use it for leaves, or if you do it will take a significantly longer period of time than a blower.

Like you I would rather hear testimonials from slickdealers. As you have probably seen there are over 800 reviews for this item on the Home depot website which might help a tiny bit. A lot of them are for trimmers and combo kits. My only observation with posting home depot daily sales is the ryobi blowers seem to be more popular than the other makes. Hope that helps.

I used it every other day for front , back of my home and business for quick clean around three years now. I would not want bigger or heavier and dealing with gas.

I have had this blower for two years and love it. It moves leaves and light debris with no problem. I use it to "sweep" my garage after projects and to clean my gutters (best use ever). I am going to buy a spare since I already have the batteries for it.

i have had this blower for at least 3 years. love it to blow leaves and grass clippings. i have two batteries which is a must. Wet leaves forget it. not strong enough. but dry ones works great but takes alot of time. butvstill works
i also found that it is great for blowing all the water off your car thats in all the hard to reach spots while drying car after hand washing. but again u need 2 batteries because it takes 4 to 6 hours to charge one.
i got my blower part of a ebay deal from black and decker with the weedwacker for $70 and batteries

I used the worx and they work pretty well and they comes with battery on ebay refurbished for 40 or so i remember. it can do pretty much everything a gas blower does. Plus it has the same battery as my trimmer/edger, so I am very happy

the one from 2013 / 2014 is the shiiiit.. however they did a remake of this with some lame ass turbo button that thing is a joke i returned it to ace and never looked back at my 4 or 6 year old version of this as its way more powerful than that piece of crap.. the one on the page looks like the newer model of the same one i have so im not sure if they skimped on the motor and power even though i think its the same rating but they scaled back is power... if that makes any sense?.

update: for the blower you really need the 4Ah batteries. I bought one couple years back when it was FP.. the standard batteries dont yield you as much power after a few minutes you can hear the motor not as strong as it was starting.. if you have a bunch of the batteries like i do its okay run em and swap em.

I own this 20v blower, have two batteries for it. Each battery lasts around 10 minutes on full charge. Works great on dry leaves but definitely won't work on leaves that are wet. Mainly use it for dusting off car cover, blowing off water on car after a wash and it serves me well for both of those tasks.

DeWalt combo is a great deal. Each bare tool is $115 -$120 normally plus you get the 4 ah battery and charger.
